After my very first two pieces panicked me and were not such a good experience, I got lovely feedback for my third piece, a new client, and a $2 bonus. I'm just dancing and singing a little.
And I got my first check $3.24! WooHoo.

Ain't it grand when we are so easily content? Happiness is in the little things.
Thanks, Darcie.

You see? ;)

Excellent work on the bonus.  I think I've only scored four or five EVER!

Zoe, thanks to you, Johnny and the folks on the forum I made it through those first 2 pieces without too much damage to my ego, knowing it would pay off eventually. The third piece was easy by comparison, and a more natural topic for me as well. It just makes me laugh that I worked probably 6 or 7 hours on each of those pieces but I really enjoyed the research and writing, despite the "introductory rate" for newbies.

You have higher pay rates to look forward to as you gain experience. Good job!!

Excellent, Helen! I'm really, really happy for you. :) My first paycheck was around $100 (on another platform) after one month of writing. And yes, it took me like two years to get my first bonus!! So, great work!

Thanks, Maria. I had no idea the bonus was rare, I was just bragging about my little accomplishment and thought it was nice I got an extra $2 and kind words. I will be more grateful knowing bonuses don't come easy.

Bonuses aren't necessarily rare; the clients who offer them are. :)

I can remember how excited I was just to hit $100 for the first time.

I was excited to have earned $16+ on the three assignments altogether. Funny how the goals change.

That's awesome! It takes a little time and effort - but, good things do come with this crazy world of free-lance writing!

Hello Helen,

Wo.hoo.   Keep at it. Sometimes unthinkable obstacles come up and I know there has been times that my frustration seems to get the best of me. Keep plugging along. No one said writing is easy. It is exciting

Best of luck.

Cynthia
